Precautions for using lithium battery powered gas vehicles in winter.
Many people know that in the cold winter, the battery life of lithium batteries will shrink and the charging speed will also slow down. The reason is that low temperatures will have a significant impact on lithium batteries, and the battery life degradation at low temperatures has been a long-standing problem.
At present, the vast majority of electric vehicles and even electronic digital products on the market use lithium batteries. For example, mobile phone batteries consume power quickly in winter, and the same goes for pure electric vehicle batteries. This shows that the performance characteristics of batteries are not the same at low and normal temperatures. The main reason for these differences is that temperature changes affect the chemical reactions occurring inside lithium batteries.
The electrochemical reaction of lithium batteries at the electrode electrolyte interface is related to the ambient temperature. At low temperatures, the viscosity of the electrolyte decreases. The conductivity decreases, and the activity of the active substance also decreases. It will increase the concentration difference of the electrolyte, enhance polarization, and slow down the diffusion rate of lithium in the negative electrode. It is prone to lithium precipitation. As the temperature decreases, the reaction rate of the electrode also decreases. Assuming the battery voltage remains constant and the discharge current decreases, the power output of the battery will also decrease.
