1、 Advantages of
polymer lithium-ion batteries:
1. Replace liquid electrolytes with solid electrolytes;
2. Replacing carbon negative electrode materials with lithium-ion negative electrode materials;
3. Using aluminum-plastic composite film instead of steel aluminum shell;
4. Compared with liquid lithium-ion batteries, polymer lithium-ion batteries have the advantages of thin shape, arbitrary area, and shape, and there are no safety issues such as leakage and combustion explosion. Therefore, aluminum plastic composite film can be used to manufacture the battery casing to improve the specific capacity of the battery;
5. The packaging is lightweight (compared to steel and aluminum), and polymers can also be used as positive electrode materials, which will have a mass to energy ratio 20-50% higher than current liquid lithium-ion batteries;
6. Compared with ordinary
lithium-ion batteries, polymer lithium-ion batteries have higher operating voltage and charge discharge cycle life;
7. The battery protection circuit is relatively simple.
2、 Disadvantages of polymer lithium-ion batteries:
1. If batteries with a thickness of 5mm or more are produced, their cost and other advantages do not exist. It is not as mature as traditional lithium battery manufacturing technology;
2. Due to the fact that polymer lithium-ion batteries are generally made into ultra-thin soft packaging, their puncture resistance is poor and their mechanical strength is low;
3. Customizable according to customer size, not universal, difficult to replace, and high welding requirements;
4. Overcharging and over discharging have poor capacitance, and once they occur, the battery will fail and be damaged.
