Safety is an important factor to consider when choosing a battery. Lithium polymer and lithium-ion batteries are generally safe to use, but there are also some differences. Lithium polymer batteries are safer, more stable, and have a lower risk of leakage or explosion. On the other hand, there is a high risk of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries, which may occur under extreme conditions or misuse.

However, as long as you design a battery pack solution that meets your needs and a customized battery management system, both types of batteries are safe. If your application requires a higher operating voltage, please choose a lithium battery.

The phenomena of overcharging, over discharging, over temperature protection, and internal short circuit are related to the use of lithium polymer batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Squeezing or puncturing of lithium polymer batteries can lead to catastrophic failures, such as electrolyte leakage and fires.

You should consult a professional battery pack manufacturer for advice on lithium polymer or lithium-ion batteries suitable for your application.
