What are the precautions during the use of lithium batteries?

The working process of a lithium battery is that when a chemical reaction begins, additional electrons inside the battery are released, thereby playing a discharge role. The process of releasing additional electrons is like in the process of iron oxidation and rusting, where iron reacts with oxygen to release electrons to oxygen, forming iron oxides. The standard battery construction is to separate two metals or compounds with different chemical potentials with a layer of porous insulation. Chemical potential refers to the energy stored between atoms and chemical bonds, which can be transferred to the moving electrons when electrons are free to move in external devices connected to them. Conductive liquids such as saltwater are often used to transport soluble ions, which can be transferred from the surface of one metal to the surface of another metal in the solution during the reaction process. We usually refer to such conductive liquids as electrolytes. During the discharge process, the metal or compound that loses electrons is called the anode, and the metal or compound that gains electrons is called the cathode. In the external circuit, the electron flow flows from the anode to the cathode, which is the current we use to drive power equipment.

1、 Precautions during the use of lithium batteries
(1) It is recommended to use batteries at temperatures ranging from+5 ℃ to+30 ℃ (preferably 25 ℃), as high temperatures can shorten their lifespan and lower their capacity at low temperatures;
(2) It is strictly prohibited to mix batteries of different brands, capacities, and old and new types;
(3) Hydrogen gas may appear during battery use, so it is important to stay away from ignition sources, maintain ventilation, and prevent explosions;
(4) Please keep the environment clean, excessive dust can cause battery short circuits;
(5) After discharging the battery, it should be recharged in a timely manner. Discharging an undercharged battery can lead to a decrease in battery capacity or even damage, so a suitable charger must be configured;
(6) UPS carrying too light a load (such as 1KVA UPS carrying 150VA load) may cause deep discharge of the battery, which should be prevented as much as possible;

(7) Proper discharge can help activate the battery. If the power supply is not stopped for a long time, the battery should be manually discharged 2-4 times a year. The existing load can be used for discharge, with a backup time of 1/4 to 1/3; 8) Batteries that have been out of service for a long time (UPS) should be charged and stored, and the battery should be charged and discharged every six months. Generally, the battery should be float charged for about 4-10 hours and operated for 2-3 minutes in the inverter state of the battery.
