Polymer lithium batteries are a type of lithium battery. The charging and discharging functions of lithium rechargeable batteries depend on the movement between the positive and negative electrodes.

During charging and discharging, lithium ions are charged into the positive and negative electrodes; Lithium battery materials are usually included in the lithium positive electrode or negative electrode materials through electrolytes, and are representative of high-energy batteries that have emerged in recent years.

Polymer lithium batteries are special because their electrolytes are different from those of other conventional lithium batteries. Conventional lithium batteries use liquid electrolytes and polymer lithium batteries use new solid electrolytes. But the positive electrode material used is the same as the negative electrode material. The liquid electrolyte of lithium batteries can be replaced by solid electrolytes, which are polymer lithium batteries that can be made into any shape.

The traditional lightweight shell is used on the battery box, and the energy of the entire battery is controlled by density steel or aluminum shell batteries and aluminum-plastic composite films. Therefore, polymer lithium batteries are composed of high polymer solid electrolytes, which are much more expensive than liquid electrolyte lithium batteries. Currently, they are one of the batteries used in smart devices, mobile phones, tablet computers, as well as aircraft models, car models, drones, and wearable devices.

Polymer lithium batteries need to pay attention to short circuits, as they are prone to short circuits during charging.

Including: internal short circuit, external short circuit, etc. However, most lithium-ion batteries now have short-circuit protection and wiring, and in many cases, this protection circuit may not work in various situations, and can only play a limited role in preventing short circuits in wires.

If the charging time of polymer lithium batteries is too long, the possibility of expansion will increase. Lithium has highly aggressive chemical properties and is easy to burn. During the activation process, the internal pressure of the battery increases to a certain level and produces gas expansion. If the shell is scratched, it will burst. Leakage, fire, or even explosion may occur. Due to high production requirements, it is difficult to clean polymer electrolyte systems, resulting in relatively high costs.
