Which is good for power lithium batteries?

In daily life, common positive electrode materials for power lithium batteries include lithium manganese oxide, lithium iron phosphate, and nickel diamond lithium manganese oxide ternary materials. So, which of these materials is better?


Advantages of lithium iron phosphate batteries:
1. High safety: The P-O bond in lithium iron phosphate is stable and not easily decomposed, and it will not cause structural collapse or generate strong oxidizing products like lithium cobalt oxide in high temperature environments. Its safety is high.
2. Long life: The cycle life of lead-acid batteries is about 300 times, up to 500 times. The cycle life of lithium iron phosphate power batteries is over 2000 times, and the standard charging (5-hour rate) can reach 2000 times.
3. Good high-temperature performance: The electric heating peak of lithium iron phosphate can reach 350 ℃ -500 ℃, while manganese lithium and cobalt lithium are only around 200 ℃.
4. Large capacity: When the battery is constantly charged, its capacity will quickly drop below the rated capacity, which is called the memory effect. Like nickel hydrogen batteries, nickel cadmium batteries also have memory function, while lithium iron phosphate batteries do not have this phenomenon and can be charged as needed.
5. Lightweight: Lithium iron phosphate batteries with the same specifications and capacity are 2/3 of the volume and 1/3 of the weight of lead-acid batteries.

6. Environmental protection: Lithium iron phosphate batteries are generally considered to contain no heavy metals or rare metals (nickel hydrogen batteries require rare metals), are non-toxic (SGS certified), pollution-free, and comply with European RoHS regulations.


Disadvantages of lithium iron phosphate batteries:

Low temperature performance is poor, positive electrode material has low vibration density, and the volume of equal capacity lithium iron phosphate batteries is larger than that of lithium-ion batteries such as lithium cobalt oxide, so it does not have advantages in micro batteries. In terms of power batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries, like other batteries, face the same issue of battery consistency.
