What is the general service life of an electric golf cart?

The service life of an electric golf cart is closely related to the usage of the battery, provided that the vehicle structure is intact. Normally, batteries can be used for about 2 years if used normally. If lithium batteries are used as the driving force, the service life of 5-8 years is completely no problem. Compared to battery powered golf carts, the price of lithium batteries is much higher.

1. Due to excessive discharge, prolonged inactivity, or near design lifespan, the lead sulfate particles formed on the surface of the electrode plate are too large, resulting in decreased conductivity and loss of the ability to transform into active sponge like lead or lead dioxide;

2. Due to excessive discharge or physical impact, the active material on the electrode plate softens or falls off, falling into the bottom of the battery, forming unusable electrode mud, directly leading to permanent reduction of active material and permanent decrease in battery capacity. When severe, the plates may even crack.

3. Due to the evaporation of water during use and the imbalance of electrolyte concentration, the function and capacity of charging and discharging decrease.

When lead-acid batteries are left unused for a long time (more than a month), the lead sulfate particles on the surface of the electrode plate will gradually grow. Due to the non-conductivity of lead sulfate particles themselves, the conductivity of these grown lead sulfate particles is worse, making it difficult to revert back to active lead or lead dioxide, leading to a decrease in capacity. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as vulcanization.

4. In addition, lead-acid batteries are accompanied by a gradually deepening vulcanization phenomenon during normal use. Ultimately, it will lead to battery obsolescence.
