Protection board, as the name suggests: a circuit board that serves as a protective device.
Not only 18650 lithium batteries, to be precise, all lithium batteries need to be used, mainly for the overall management of overcharging, overdischarging, short circuiting, etc. of the battery. You are probably just like water and a container. When the faucet is turned on (battery charging), without protection, if the faucet is not turned off, water will continue to flow into the container (charging). When the container cannot fit, it will still flow in and the water will overflow.

And we all know that lithium batteries, if not managed and controlled, will continue to charge, exceeding 4.2V, until they explode. It's what we call overcharging. Similarly, if discharged continuously, the voltage will drop below 2V. In this case, the user cannot charge the battery and the battery will be basically scrapped. However, for professionals, low current charging is still possible, not completely overdischarging. When discharged to 0V, the lithium battery will be completely scrapped. So there must be over protection. In addition, there are overcurrent, short term protection, etc. I won't go into detail. As for the 750MA lumens discharge, the battery has a discharge platform. It is recommended not to use the charger when charging, as it will not overcharge when using it with a protective board.
Method for determining whether
18650 lithium batteries have protective plates:
Method 1: The length of 18650 lithium batteries is 650mm, and circular protective plates are often installed at the negative electrode if it exceeds 1mm;
Method 2: Use a 10A or 20A ammeter to instantly test the short-circuit current of an 18650 lithium battery. If the ammeter reads instantly and quickly drops to zero, it indicates that the 18650 lithium battery has a protective board. If the ammeter has a large reading or displays overload, then the battery has no protective board or the protective board is invalid.
