What is AGV?
Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) is an industrial vehicle that automatically or manually loads goods, drives or pulls the loaded vehicle to a designated location according to the set route, and then automatically or manually loads and unloads goods. It is commonly used in logistics warehouses, large warehouses, production workshops, and other scenarios.
AGV battery type
AGV cars mainly use lead-acid batteries, nickel hydrogen batteries, and lithium-ion batteries as their battery types.
Lead acid battery: It is a relatively traditional type of battery with relatively low cost and good reliability. However, lead-acid batteries are heavier, larger in size, longer in charging time, and more difficult to maintain.
Lithium ion batteries: Lithium ion batteries have become the mainstream choice for AGVs due to their higher energy density, smaller size, and weight. Long charging life, low self discharge rate, high charging efficiency, and no memory effect.
Nickel hydrogen batteries (NiMH): Compared with lead-acid batteries, nickel hydrogen batteries have higher energy density, lighter weight, shorter charging time, and are environmentally friendly. But its price is relatively high and there is a certain degree of self discharge problem.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries: Lithium iron phosphate batteries are receiving increasing attention in AGVs. It has the advantages of high safety, long cycle life, and wide working temperature range. Compared with other lithium-ion batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries generate less heat and charge faster.
Factors to consider when choosing AGV batteries
1. Communication method:
At present, the communication protocols for AGV batteries on the market mainly include RS485, CAN, RS232, Bluetooth, UART, etc. You can choose according to your own needs.
2. Current:
In addition, the capacity of AGV batteries is usually between 5Ah and 200Ah, depending on factors such as vehicle load, driving distance, and working time. To meet different application requirements, AGVs are usually equipped with multiple battery modules, which can be combined in parallel and series to achieve the required capacity and voltage.
3. Voltage:
It is necessary to consider the rated voltage and maximum voltage of the output terminal, and clarify the voltage and raw materials of the lithium battery. The rated voltage of the battery cannot be lower than the rated voltage of the motor. The full range voltage of the battery cannot be higher than the maximum voltage of the machine equipment. The common voltages for AGVs in the market are 24V, 48V, and 72V.
