Advantages and disadvantages of 18650 cylindrical lithium battery cells.

Advantages of 18650 cylindrical lithium battery cells:

1. No memory: 18650 battery cells are specifically designed for lithium-ion batteries and do not have memory.
2. High voltage: The voltage of 8650 lithium batteries is generally 3.2V, 3.7V, and 4.2V, much higher than the 1.2V voltage of nickel cadmium and nickel hydrogen batteries.
3. Long service life: The frequency of charging and discharging cycles is greater than 500 times. The storage capacity is generally 1200mAh-3000mAh, and the common storage capacity is 2200mAh-2600mAh.
4. Cheap price: For polymer battery cells, the price of 18650 battery cells is relatively much lower.
5. Wide application: Mobile power banks, laptops, wireless intercoms, portable DVDs, instruments and equipment, professional audio equipment, model airplanes, electric toys, surveillance cameras, digital cameras and other electronic products and equipment are all used.
6. Flexible combination: By combining 18650 cells in parallel or series, it is relatively easy to create a variety of battery packs with different numbers through conventional combination methods, fully meeting different needs.

Disadvantages of 18650 cylindrical lithium battery cells:

1. Power degradation: The storage capacity of all lithium-ion batteries will gradually decline, which is related to frequency of use and operating temperature.
2. Difficulty in recycling: There is basically no recycling.
3. Not tolerant of overcharging and overdischarging: During overcharging, excessively embedded lithium ions will be permanently fixed in the crystal structure and cannot be released again, which can cause a short battery life. During over discharge, excessive lithium ion extraction from the electrode can cause the collapse of the crystal structure, thereby shortening its lifespan.
4. Inert maneuverability: Due to the fixed basic shape and size, it is difficult to be as flexible and versatile as polymer cells. Of course, this is also an advantage, as fixed specifications mean replaceable.
